Goal Metaphors

About the deck

The deck shows what a goal actually is for a person, rather than what they say it is.

The deck holds 128 metaphorical associative cards with symbols and objects that carry the image of a goal and a person’s inner attitude to what they want to reach.

Work with the deck answers the main question: what is this goal for, and what is it to them. It often turns out that the conscious wording and the image underneath do not agree.

If the image suits them, a person takes it as an anchor and moves toward the goal. If a contradiction inside comes to light, the image is adjusted, and the attitude to the goal changes along with it.

The deck is especially useful where a goal was set long ago and nothing is moving: the cause is usually not discipline but that the goal feels heavy, borrowed or dangerous.

The deck is intended for coaches, strategy consultants, facilitators, transformation game facilitators and psychologists.

Who it is for: coaches, business trainers, strategy consultants, facilitators, consultants, psychologists, transformation game facilitators, and entrepreneurs and managers working on their strategy on their own.

With the “Goal Metaphors” deck you can

Questions to ask the deck

Work starts from these questions. Choose one, the one that speaks to you more strongly than the rest, and work with it, because only one goal is taken apart well in a single session.

  1. What does my goal look like to me?
  2. How does what is beneath my awareness see this goal?
  3. What is my goal actually like?
  4. What does my goal look like to others?
  5. What in the goal needs a closer look?
  6. What should be adjusted to reach it in the best way?
  7. Is this goal mine or someone else’s?
  8. What will I get along with this goal, besides the result?
  9. What will I lose by reaching it?
  10. What makes this goal heavy?
  11. What will make it appealing?
  12. What do I actually want this goal for?
