Children's Beliefs

About the deck

A deck about the thoughts a child takes for the truth about themselves and about the world.

The deck holds 80 metaphorical associative cards with the most common children’s thoughts and beliefs: 40 supporting and 40 limiting.

Some beliefs help a child try things and take risks, others bind them and explain in advance why nothing will come of it.

Through the cards a child notices their own thoughts, and a professional helps turn them in another direction: to widen the borders and to teach constructive thinking.

The deck also suits work with grown-ups on the inner child, because childhood beliefs keep steering decisions in grown-up life.

The deck can be used as a diagnostic, clarifying, deepening, resourcing and supporting tool in counseling, therapy and psychological transformation games. It works within the “Children's World” series, on its own, and as a deepening tool in the game of the same name.

Who it is for: child and family psychologists, psychotherapists, art therapists, school psychologists, consultants, teachers, facilitators of children’s groups, and grown-ups working on the inner child.

With the “Children's Beliefs” deck you can

Questions to ask the deck

Work starts from these questions. Choose one, the one that speaks to you more strongly than the rest, and work with it, because only one belief is worked through well in a single meeting.

  1. Which belief keeps me from reaching my goal?
  2. Which belief will become a support for me in future?
  3. Which thoughts do I need to change?
  4. Which thought keeps me from seeing life as it is?
  5. What do I need to start believing for life to be as I want it?
  6. Which belief should I let go of first?
  7. Which thoughts will help me be happy?
  8. What do I tell myself when I fail at something?
  9. Whose words are these sounding in my head?
  10. What do people who manage what I want believe?
  11. What do I think about myself when I am praised?
  12. Which thought supports me in a hard moment?
